Real-time video effects, accelerated by your GPU.

ACMX2 is an open-source visual synthesizer that applies shaders and GPU effects to cameras and video files in real time. Build shader packs, react to audio, record processed video, and create new visual worlds.

About ACMX2

A programmable canvas for moving images

ACMX2 applies real-time shaders to video from a camera device or video file. It can record processed frames to an output file, save snapshots on demand, and provides a code editor for creating packs of shaders and running GPU-accelerated effects. The application is based on the open-source libmx2 MX Engine.

  • Capture and process a live camera feed or load a video file.
  • Load individual fragment shaders or complete shader libraries.
  • Render frames in real time with OpenGL, CUDA, and SDL2.
  • Write processed frames to video and save snapshots on demand.
  • Configure output resolution, frame rate, and video bitrate.
  • Use the Qt6 interface and built-in editor to create visual effects.
  • Respond to audio with adjustable channels and sensitivity.
  • Build and share reusable packs of shaders and GPU filters.
